The worldâs richest race for two-year-olds, the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) is set to steal the show at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday March 18.
It is one of five Group 1 races on the card, which forms one of the best of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
The latest round of entries for the classic were the Golden Slipper first acceptances taken on October 4, revealing 1,501 hopefuls.
Of those the best fancies to make the field and take to the Rosehill track next year are listed in the futures Golden Slipper odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.
At a current quote of $13 and leading the way is Team Snowdenâs Exceed And Excel colt Khan.
He won his debut at Randwick on October 1 with a smart victory in the Listed Breedersâ Plate (1000m) and is now well-fancied to hand his trainers with back-to-back wins after the success of the since-retired Capitalist in the 2016 Golden Slipper.
Co-trainer Peter Snowden also won the race back in 2011 with Sepoy.
The next two best in Golden Slipper betting 2017 are Invincible Star and Madeenaty at $15 each.
The raceâs most successful living trainer Gai Waterhouse co-prepares Invincible Star with her former racing manager Adrian Bott, Sydneyâs leading lady of racing chasing her seventh Golden Slipper win.
Waterhouseâs previous Golden Slipper winners are: Ha Ha (2001), Dance Hero (2004), Sebring (2008), Pierro (2012), Overreach (2013) and Vancouver (2015).
Her best hope this season is considered to be I Am Invincible filly Invincible Star who won the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes (1000m) on Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington.
It was an impressive debut with the filly flying down the straight for a comprehensive 2.25 length win.
Third placegetter in that race, Madeenaty, is the other youngster being kept safe in early Slipper betting.
She has had two career starts, the Lindsay Park-trained daughter of Exceed And Excel winning the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Plate (1000m) a Flemington by over two lengths before the Group 3 third on Cup Day.
The only other two-year-old under $20 for the win in the tentative early markets is the John OâShea-trained Medaglia DâOro colt Veranillo ($17).
Godolphinâs youngster entered early Golden Slipper calculations on November 12 with his winning debut at Rosehill Racecourse over 1100m.
The other best in betting include the Gerald Ryan-trained Breedersâ Plate runner-up to Khan Condor Heroes ($21) and OâSheaâs other early fancy Jorda ($21) who won the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) in early October at Randwick.
The 2017 Golden Slipper second acceptances close on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at 3:00pm (AEDT).
